I. THE ORIGIN OF CALLING THE NAME “NAMAN”
The name "Naman" comes from an ancient fishing village associated with the history of Da Nang city, Vietnam. The old fishing village of Nam An, Tan An, is located beside the sea, at the foot of the Son Tra peninsula, and was established hundreds of years ago; it is an area that avoids storms and is rich in seafood resources, so the village's name has the word "An". (meaning peace, and happiness).
Three identities were bestowed on Nam An commune - the 7th Minh Mang (1828)
Through historical documents provided by Mr. Le Xuan Thong - Da Nang Historical Science Association, including a record of the establishment of Nam An village, three identities bestowed on Nam An commune - the 7th Minh Mang (1828) and a directory book of Nam An village – Gia Long (1848), we understand more about the history of opening the realm and keeping the land of the ancestors.
Recorded from the address book of Nam An village - Gia Long period 1848
Experiencing ups and downs and fluctuations during the Nguyen Dynasty, the name of Nam An village was lost, and Tan An fishing village was changed to Tan Thai in the reign of Thanh Thai (1889). Finally, at the end of the twentieth century, Tan Thai merged with Co Man to form the current Man Thai ward (in Son Tra, Da Nang).
To recall and preserve the traditional culture of the ancient coastal fishing villages, the name Naman was named for Naman Retreat resort as a reminder of the local history of long-term expansion. We remember the roots and preserve the traditional culture of our ancestors.
II. MEANING OF THE NAME “NAMAN”
The name "NAMAN" has five characters corresponding to Ngu Hanh Son or Non Nuoc mountain, a scenic spot consisting of 5 limestone mountains protruding into the sea in Hoa Hai ward, Ngu Hanh Son district, Da Nang, just 5 km from Naman Retreat resort.
The five characters in the name "NAMAN" also correspond to the Five Elements in Eastern feng shui: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. These elements harmonize and complement each other to bring vitality, stability and peaceful development.
